General care
All items from Ujo webshop include a polishing cloth to keep them looking good in the future as well. Items are best stored in a small resealable bag since they sometimes tarnish even while being in their boxes. As a general rule, it is best to always put your jewellery on last, because hair products, perfume and cosmetics will accelerate tarnishing. Also remove your jewellery before swimming, working out, cleaning and sunbathing to keep them looking brilliant for years to come.

How do I clean my jewellery?
Use the complimentary cleaning and polishing cloth included with your purchase.

If they are dirty, use an old, soft toothbrush with warm/hot soapy water to clean them. Don’t use toothpaste, it’s abrasive and will damage your jewellery.

What causes tarnishing?
Tarnishing (oxidation) is a result of oxygen or sulfur coming into contact with sterling silver. The air especially here in Oulu is known to be highly sulfuric and silver will tarnish if not kept in an air-tight bag for storage. To clean any tarnishing, use a polishing cloth to regain a silver finish. Some of my designs are intentionally oxidised to highlight certain details on a piece of jewellery, so avoid those areas when using a polishing cloth.
