Orthodox cross

Handmade sterling silver pendant with an aquamarine. Custom order.

I made an orthodox cross for a customer. After a few sketches I re-drew it in Rhino to get the sawing design. To add depth to the piece, I wanted to make it seem like the sun rays are coming from behind the cross, so I carved them a bit lower and under the main cross. The bail had to be a bit bigger than normal because the pendant will be hanging on a 6mm Jens Pind chain.

The customer also wanted different finishes, so I textured the background to give contrast to the polished inner cross and the engraved rays.
